What the Pitch Deck Generator does
The Pitch Deck Generator turns what you know about your startup into a first draft of an investor deck. You pick one of three deck styles and a length between 5 and 15 slides, answer up to eleven questions, and it writes a headline, the supporting points and speaker notes for every slide.
Only two answers are required: your startup's name and a one-line description. Everything else is optional, and this is where the generator differs from most AI slide tools. If you leave traction blank, the traction slide doesn't get an invented number. It gets a bracketed note such as "[Add monthly revenue for the last 6 months]" so you can see exactly what is missing before an investor does.
The draft is a starting point, not a finished deck. Every slide can be edited in place, reordered, deleted or rewritten with AI, and the result exports to PowerPoint or PDF.
- Three deck styles, each built around a different kind of investor
- 5, 8, 10, 12 or 15 slides, with the most important slides kept in shorter decks
- Fill the form from your Startupply startup profile in one click
- Missing information shows up as a to-do on the slide, never a made-up figure
- Export to editable PowerPoint with speaker notes, or to PDF
How to generate a pitch deck
- 1
Choose a deck style
Classic VC, Minimalist Angel or SaaS & ARR Growth. The style decides which slides appear, the order they come in, and how the copy is written. You can switch later and regenerate.
- 2
Pick how many slides
Five for a teaser you attach to a cold email, ten for most seed rounds, fifteen for a full partner meeting. The generator shows the exact slide list for the length you pick before you commit.
- 3
Tell it about your startup
Name and one-liner are required. Problem, solution, market, traction, business model, competition, team, raise amount and use of funds are optional. If you have a Startupply startup profile, "Fill from my startup profile" fills the empty fields and leaves anything you typed alone.
- 4
Generate, then edit
When the deck is ready, click any headline or point to rewrite it, add or remove slides, move them up and down, write speaker notes, and pick a background for the whole deck.
- 5
Polish the slides that need it
"Polish this slide" asks the AI for a tighter version of the slide you are on. You see the new version before anything changes and choose whether to keep it.
- 6
Present or export
Present full screen from the browser and flip with the arrow keys, copy the deck outline as text, or download it as a PowerPoint file you can keep editing or a PDF that looks exactly like the deck on screen.
The three deck styles
A seed fund, an angel at a demo day and a SaaS investor read a deck differently. Each style is a different slide order and writing voice, not just a colour scheme.
Classic VC Pitch
For seed and Series A venture funds. Measured and evidence-led, with every claim tied to a number from your answers. Runs vision, problem, solution, then market size, traction, business model and an itemised ask.
Example: A 10-slide seed deck for a fund that wants TAM, SAM and SOM before the meeting.
Minimalist Angel (YC style)
For angels, accelerators and demo day audiences. One idea per slide and headlines a partner can read in two seconds. Traction and team come early, and it adds an Insight slide on what you know that others have missed.
Example: An 8-slide deck for an accelerator application or a demo day.
SaaS & ARR Growth Deck
For B2B software, developer tools and product-led companies. Leads with revenue: MRR and ARR growth, then a dedicated unit economics slide for CAC, LTV, payback and net retention, plus pricing and named customers in longer decks.
Example: A 12-slide deck for a SaaS company with a year of revenue to show.
How many slides, and which ones
Every deck style ranks its slides by importance. A shorter deck keeps the highest-ranked slides and drops the rest, so a 5-slide deck is never just the first five slides of a 15-slide one. In the Classic VC style, five slides means vision, problem, solution, traction and the ask.
| Slides | Length | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Teaser | Cold emails and first calls |
| 8 | Pre-seed | Angels and accelerators |
| 10 | Standard | Most seed rounds |
| 12 | Detailed seed | Funds that dig into metrics |
| 15 | Series A | Full partner meetings |
Ten slides is the default and suits most early-stage rounds. If you are sending the deck ahead of a call, start shorter. Nobody has complained that a cold-email deck was too brief.
Getting a better first draft
The generator can only work with what you give it. The founders who get a usable deck on the first pass tend to do the same few things.
- Write numbers, not adjectives. "$18k MRR, growing 12% a month" makes a traction slide. "Strong early traction" makes a placeholder.
- Describe the problem from the customer's side: who has it, how often, and what it costs them today.
- Name the alternatives under competition, including spreadsheets and doing nothing. "No competitors" is the fastest way to lose an investor's trust.
- Give the raise amount and the instrument, such as "$1.5M SAFE", and split use of funds roughly by percentage.
- Treat every bracketed note on a slide as a question an investor will ask. Fill it in or be ready to answer it out loud.
Before you send it
A generated deck gets you past the blank page, but the content behind each slide still has to hold up. Startupply's other Resource Center tools cover the parts a deck is usually weakest on.
- 1
Check the ask
Run the AI Funding Calculator to work out a raise you can defend from your burn, hiring plan and runway, then put that number on the ask slide.
- 2
Pressure-test the story
A Lean Canvas sharpens the problem, solution and business model slides. A SWOT analysis gives you an honest competition slide.
- 3
Find the gaps an investor will
The Startup Readiness Index scores you across seven pillars, including traction, team and investor readiness, and ranks your weakest areas.
- 4
Regenerate when things change
After a new month of revenue or a key hire, update your answers and regenerate. Regenerating rebuilds every slide, so copy out any hand edits you want to keep first.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Pitch Deck Generator free?
Yes. Every Startupply account can generate a pitch deck for free and keep one saved deck. The Go plan keeps up to five decks and Pro has no limit. Delete a deck to make room for a new one.
Will the AI make up numbers for my deck?
No. The generator only uses the information you give it. Where a slide needs something you haven't provided, such as revenue or market size, it leaves a bracketed note telling you what to add instead of inventing a figure.
Can I export my pitch deck to PowerPoint?
Yes. Decks export as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) file with your speaker notes included, or as a PDF that matches the deck on screen. PowerPoint files also open in Google Slides and Keynote.
How many slides should my pitch deck have?
Ten for most seed rounds. Use five to eight for a deck you attach to a cold email or an accelerator application, and twelve to fifteen when a fund wants detailed metrics or for a Series A partner meeting.
Can I edit the slides after they are generated?
Yes. Click any headline or point to edit it in place. You can add, delete and reorder slides, write speaker notes, change the background, and ask the AI to polish a single slide without touching the rest.
Which deck style should I choose?
Classic VC for a seed or Series A round with venture funds, Minimalist Angel for angels, accelerators and demo days, and SaaS & ARR Growth if you sell B2B software and have recurring revenue to show.
Does it use my Startupply startup profile?
If you have one, yes. "Fill from my startup profile" fills the generator's empty fields from your profile. It never overwrites a field you have already typed in.
